Biography

Shiyang Cheng received his bachelor's degree (top 10%) in Biomedical Engineering from Northeastern University (NEU), China in 2011 and M.Sc. degree in Computing Science with Distinction from Imperial College London, U.K. in 2012. After the completion of his master degree, he worked in the Department of Computing, Imperial College London, U.K. as a Research Assistant, under a joint supervision of Dr. Stefanos Zafeiriou and Prof. Maja Pantic. In the autumn of 2013, Shiyang Cheng started his EPSRC funded studies for the Ph.D. degree at Imperial College London in the field of statistical machine learning and computer vision under the supervision of Dr. Stefanos Zafeiriou and Prof. Maja Pantic.

His research interests lie in the areas of statistical machine learning for Computer Vision and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), as well as real time implementations of computer vision algorithms using CUDA. He is currently working on Facial Landmark Point Tracking, particularly in terms of Part-based Deformable Model. Moreover, he has a keen interest in building application upon the real-time face tracker proposed in his papers.
