Biography

Dimitrios Kollias, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, holder of a Post-Graduate Certificate and member of the IEEE, is currently a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in Artificial Intelligence with the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Queen Mary University of London.

Dimitrios has been the recipient of the prestigious Teaching Fellowship of Imperial College London (2016-2020). He has obtained the Ph.D. from the Department of Computing, Imperial College London (2020), where he was a member of the iBUG group. Prior to this, he received the M.Sc. in Advanced Computing from the Department of Computing of Imperial College London (2016) and the Diploma/M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the ECE School of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (2015).

He has been a Senior Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence with the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Greenwich. Additionally, he has worked as Research Scientist at Deep Render Ltd on deep learning based image/video compression; he has been Consultant at FaceSoft Ltd on deep learning based affect recognition and generation; he has has been Consultant at Cogitat Ltd on decoding people’s music-listening brain states; he has collaborated with Realeyes Company on machine learning based affect and attention methodologies. Two patents have been generated and filed.

His research interests span the areas of Machine and Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Vision, Behaviour Analysis and Affect Recognition, Human Computer Interaction, Medical Imaging and Healthcare, Big Data Analysis and Social Networks.
