Biography

James Booth is a PhD candidate supervised by Stefanos Zafeiriou in the Department of Computing, Imperial College London, UK. His thesis covers the construction and application of highly accurate 3D deformable facial models. James is also an honorary member of the Craniofacial Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital London, where he applies his research to advancing the state of the art in craniofacial surgery planning and outcome measurements. He is a co-creator of the open-source Menpo Project (www.menpo.org), a collection of high quality open source code for the deformable model community. Menpo includes a core of Python code for manipulating annotated visual data, and a number of libraries built on top of this core for performing 2D/3D deformable model construction and fitting. Menpo was a finalist in the 2014 ACM Multimedia Open Source Software Competition, where James gave an oral presentation for the software. He also develops Landmarker.io (www.landmarker.io), an open source web application for 2D and 3D annotation.

James was named the 2015 European Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship winner.
