Dr. Stephan Liwicki
Biography
Stephan Liwicki received the B. Sc. (Hons) degree in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, as best student of the course in 2009, and the M. Phil. degree in Computer Speech, Text and Internet Technology from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, in 2010. In summer 2010, he joined the Imperial College London, United Kingdom, as a Research Assistant, and in autumn 2010, Stephan Liwicki started his EPSRC funded studies for the Ph. D. degree at Imperial in the field of computer vision under the supervision of Prof. Maja Pantic and Dr Stefanos Zafeiriou.
His research targets robust incremental subspace learning algorithms with an application to human behaviour analysis. Currently, he develops tracking algorithms based on online learning approaches for kernel Principal Component Analysis which incrementally update the Eigenspectrum of the appearance model. For this, he designs and utilises kernels, which are both fast and robust to intrinsic and extrinsic changes, for real-time visual tracking of faces.
