Akis is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Computing, Imperial College London, supported by a Department of Computing scholarship. He is currently working at iBUG under the supervision of Prof. Maja Pantic and Dr. Yannis Panagakis. 

He obtained his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of St Andrews in 2013. During 2013-2016 he was an investment banking Analyst/Associate at HSBC in London, focusing on private equity transactions. In 2017 and 2018, respectively, he obtained the M.Sc. in Computing Science and M.Sc. in Advanced Computing from Imperial College London, both with Distinction.

His research interests include tensor methods, compressed sensing and deep learning applied to computer vision.
